OCTOBER 8, 2024

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- Longtime La Crosse resident Shaundel Washington-Spivey has formally launched his campaign for Mayor of La Crosse.

The UWL graduate and Executive Director for the nonprofit "Black Leaders Acquiring Collective Knowledge" held his first campaign event today at Grandad Bluff Park.

He says his experience serving the community will help address issues facing the city.

"I've talked to a lot of folks about issues here in La Crosse. So, I feel like I could do a great job as mayor and leading the city to address some of the issues we have," said Washington-Spivey.

His campaign says his focus is returning the fundamental values of care, action, and community back to the mayor’s office.

The mayoral race will be on the ballot next April.
